Athletic greatness runs in the Mahomes family
atrick Mahomes‘ son Bronze Mahomes is already showing early signs that he could be a the next sports star to carry on the Mahomes family legacy. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback posted a video of his 1-year-old son lining up a “three-pointer” in their house, and his reaction said all you need to know about Bronze’s budding talent.
Posted the night of the NCAA men’s basketball championship game, the elder Mahomes screamed “Oh! Three!” to hype up his young hooper. In fact, Bronze barely seemed impressed at his own sharpshooting prowess, chasing the rebound while his dad cheered him on.
Patrick’s cheer of “three” may have been about the shot, but it also could have referred to his son’s name: Patrick Lavon Mahomes III. The 1-year-old goes by “Bronze” in reference to being the third of his name and to keep with the metallic family naming tradition.
The Mahomes family has produced many great athletes
Bronze’s two namesakes were incredible athletes themselves. Patrick Lavon Mahomes Sr (known as Pat Mahomes), who is in the midst of legal troubles, spent 11 years as an MLB pitcher featuring a 100 mph fastball.

His arm was passed down to Patrick Lavon Mahomes II (Patrick Mahomes), who has used it to guide the Kansas City Chiefs to three Super Bowls in the past five years. The two-time MVP is still writing his NFL legacy, but it already stacks up among the best quarterbacks in history.
You can’t forget about the other side of the family, either. Bronze’s mom, Brittany Mahomes, was a soccer star who scored 34 goals in college and played professionally in Iceland. She continued her passion for sports as a certified personal fitness trainer and a co-owner of the NWSL franchise Kansas City Current.
Bronze Mahomes’ athletic pedigree gives him a head start on the competition. It’s no wonder Patrick Mahomes can’t hide his excitement about his son’s basketball s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s: we could have the next great Mahomes on our hands.
