The OSCA MT4-2AD: Discovering a Rare Italian Gem in Brookfield

Description of the VehicleThe second act of the Maserati Brothers was OSCA. The three brothers were liberated from any obligations by 1947, as they had sold Maserati. They were capable of producing automobiles and participating in motorsport once more. The company they established was O.S.C.A.

Numerous individuals regard the OSCA MT4 1500 as their finest automobile. The 1954 Sebring was among the races that was won. Class victories were achieved in the 1955 Mille Miglia, Targa Florio, Dolomite rally, and Giro di Sicilia.

MT4 Chassis number 1148 is the vehicle that is currently available for purchase. It is one of approximately 78 OSCA MT4s that have been constructed. It features the Spyder coachwork, which is highly desirable. Harry Allen Chapman acquired it in the United States in 1954. In 1954 and 1955, Harry Chapman and Bumpy Bell competed in races in Arizona and California with the vehicle.

It was driven by Road and Track and featured in the August issue as their test car shortly after contending at Minter Field in 1955.

It was subsequently sold to Chick Leson through Ernie McAfee. The car was raced by Leson at Buchanan Field, Salinas, and Santa Barbara in California.

By 1976, the vehicle was in the possession of John Hunholz, a physician and race car enthusiast, after passing through the hands of numerous proprietors in the 1960s.

The automobile’s restoration was initiated; however, it was never finalized. It remained in his garage for more than 45 years.

1148 MT4 chassis. It is a highly desirable 1500cc vehicle; it was also available in a 1100cc configuration. It is an exceptional vehicle for restoration. Original chassis, original body, and original engine. Visually, the matching number engine is in excellent condition. Its mechanical condition is unknown to us. A pair of 39 DC03 Weber carburetors supply fuel to the twin plug per cylinder head. The appropriate configuration for this vehicle.
