A closer look at the Austin Reaves x Rigorer AR1 ‘Ice Cream’, the Lakers star’s first signature sneaker

After announcing a multi-year relationship in July, global performance brand Rigorer and Austin Reaves recently debuted the AR1, the rising NBA star’s first signature sneaker. The AR1 debuted in a “Ice Cream” special edition colorway globally on August 11, 2023, in collaboration with global marketplace KICKS CREW.

Reaves, who was born and reared in Arkansas, played collegiate basketball for the Wichita State Shockers and the Oklahoma Sooners before signing a four-year agreement with the Los Angeles Lakers this summer. During the 2023 NBA regular season and playoffs, Reaves used the Chinese apparel company Rigorer, launched in 2014 by former CBA star Lin Chenyao. Entering into a long-term agreement with Rigorer to provide high-quality performance basketball shoes to a global audience at an accessible price range.

“From growing up in Arkansas and being undrafted to now having my own signature shoe, this is a surreal moment for me,” Austin Reaves said. “The AR1 was created in collaboration with the design team to maximize performance and efficiency on the court.” The AR1 not only complements my overall game, but it is also adaptable to all players.”

The Austin Reaves x Rigorer AR1 “Ice Cream” signature sneaker features a pastel pink and blue color scheme that pays homage to Reaves’ favorite summer treat growing up in Arkansas. The sneakers also arrive in a specially designed package with two pairs of performance socks. Aside from the attractive design, the limited edition AR1 is packed with performance technology inspired by Rigorer’s basketball career.

The breathability and lockdown support Woven Cocoon Upper, low-court feel ShowTime Tech Foam Midsole enclosed in an EVA foam, and lace bite-eliminating Bubble Lacing System lead the performance-focused design. Other performance features include an Anti-Torsion TPU Plate consisting of carbon fiber and nylon, an Anti-Slip Sole, Front Sidewall TPU Panels, and an Anti-Skid Heel.

The Austin Reaves x Rigorer AR1 “Ice Cream” signature sneaker was only available through global launch partner KICKS CREW for $100 USD. The release capitalized on the platform’s reputation for providing consumers worldwide with a borderless shopping experience, connecting authorized shops and brands to a global audience.
