The United States table tennis team now boasts a new admirer.
Monday’s Lily Zhang from the United States competed at the Paris Olympics; Anthony Edwards from Minnesota Timberwolves and Team USA was seen supporting her in the audience.
Edwards’ backing of the United States’ table tennis squad follows the call-out of the shooting guard by Olympic teammate Steph Curry. Curry introduced Edwards to the table tennis team before of Friday’s opening ceremony; they claimed to have beat him 21-0. His reply was quite valuable.
“I got some folks talking about they’re going to beat me in ping pong 21-0,” Edwards remarked. “I find it hard to believe. I cannot have it. I’m just scoring one point.Edwards and table tennis team members talked about a possible game, but it’s not known if it will actually take place. Edwards’ best bet is probably not trying to contest them in their field of expertise.
Edwards also lately touted his swimming prowess, declaring he is Team USA’s top swimmer.
“They ain’t no swimmers,” Edwards remarked.Edwards seems to be confident in his ability in other sports too, and his agility on the basketball floor is indisputable. Maybe once he finishes competing in the Olympics he will have the opportunity to present his abilities.
Veteran of more than ten years in the NBA with the Golden State Warriors, Stephen Curry made his Olympic debut in Paris.
Curry had great pressure before their game against Team Serbia and Nikola Jokic, despite his great professional experience.Curry said he was both excited and nervous about representing his nation on the international front for the first time; the latter is something he hasn’t really dealt with in his career thus far.
“I had a lot of nerves pre-game up until the national anthem.” Curry said.”The energy was fantastic and the surroundings were incredibly cool—sold out to the nosebleeds.
For a very long period, I had been looking forward wearing this shirt at this level. From the opening ceremonies to the competitions, I am savoring every moment. I’m loving it and want something to show for it at the end, why you see me so energetic.”
Curry has never competed in an Olympic Games beforeCurry had represented Team USA at the senior level during the 2010 and 2014 World Championship events, although the Olympics had always escaped him.
The stars lined up this time so he could wear the Team USA jersey on the biggest platform. Curry and his group are quite expected to bring gold this year, and their performance in the Olympic opener points to their likely success in meeting those standards.Joel Embiid, who battled against Serbia, raises questions, though, and some analysts believe he is still not completely healed from the damage that beset his NBA campaign.
Some say the Philadelphia 76ers hurried him back for the playoffs only to see his physical state deteriorate.
