Haha, Goat Klay Thompson is really confused about his new acquaintance
In the chase for Paul George and Klay Thompson, the Orlando Magic have become a team to keep an eye on, according to NBA analyst Marc Stein.
“Orlando continues to be mentioned by various league observers as a natural suitor for George as well as Golden State’s Klay Thompson,” Stein pointed out. “The Clippers certainly hope to retain George in free agency, but they’ve made it clear by letting negotiations drag out to this point that they want to do it at their price.”
George can choose to play in the 2024–25 season for an option that is worth $48.8 million. If he says no, the Magic and the 76ers of Philadelphia, who were rumored to be interested, are prepared to trade.
The Clippers only have until June 30 to influence George’s decision.
George has spent the last five years with the Lakers, but his future is still up in the air. His playoff performance was particularly disappointing, averaging 19.5 points against the Mavericks—his worst showing since 2013.
Engage inIn the meanwhile, Thompson will make $43.2 million in 2023–24 as he nears the end of his five-year, $190 million deal with the Golden State Warriors. Thompson, who was selected eleventh overall in 2011, has resided in the Bay Area throughout his whole career. He is a four-time NBA champion and five-time All-Star.
The Warriors extended an offer to Thompson to play for them for another two years at a cost of about $48 million before the current season started, but he turned it down, suggesting that their expectations were different.
After 34 years on the field, Thompson has had a rough go of it with knee and Achilles ailments, which have sidelined him for two years in a row and part of the 2021–22 campaign.
