Mother of Lakers legend No.1 Carmelo Anthony – “Great woman” struggled to raise her son alone without a father ‎

Unfortunately, Carmelo Anthony’s parents were never able to spend time together as they brought up their children and witnessed their development. The mother of Carmelo gave up everything in order to make sure that her son would have a prosperous future.

His parents, Carmelo Iriarte and Mary Anthony, are the parents of the NBA superstar. Carmelo became more knowledgeable about the family tree of his activist father, who was of Puerto Rican origin, via the course of an episode of the show “Finding Your Roots.”

The episode provided Carmelo with additional information regarding his ancestry, which can be traced back to his great-grandmother. In the 1800s, during the Venezuelan revolution, she was the victim of a slave trade and was sold to Puerto Rico.

Mary, who is Carmelo’s mother, is an African-American woman who was born in Bishopville, South Carolina. She is the second kid out of a total of twelve individuals. A dedicated basketball player in high school, Carmelo’s mother passed on her passion for the game to her son, who also plays basketball.

Mary participated in full court basketball and track and field during her final two years of high school, despite the fact that she began playing the sport during a time when there were many misconceptions about girls playing a game that featured just half of the court.

The passing of Melo’s father, Carmelo Iriarte, had the effect of bringing his son “closer” to him.

Following his courageous battle with cancer, Carmelo’s activist father passed away, leaving behind his son, who was only two years old. Carmelo Anthony, an NBA player, came up with ties with other members of his family in order to make up for the fact that he did not have a father figure in his life when he was growing up.

It goes without saying that his doting mother was never far from his side, but while he was growing up, he was met with dismissal from his stepfather, who never seemed to have any affection for him.

The persons whom Carmelo looked up to as father figures were his elder brothers and cousins; nevertheless, the events that transpired in their lives appeared to be warning signs. As a result, they were frequently involved in violent and drug-related activities inside their community.

In 2015, Carmelo celebrated his dad on father’s day with a heartwarming tribute that he wrote on his Facebook page. In his post, the athlete shared a photo of his late father alongside an emotional message stating that his father’s death brought him closer to him.

When Carmelo’s father died, his mother struggled to raise him and his siblings; her main goal was to see her kids succeed.

The post attracted many comments from his fans, who gave him words of encouragement and told him that his father was proud of the accomplishments he had made.
